Red Rocks Amphitheatre Concert Guide: Bags, Accessibility, Parking and Post-Show Pickup
Research-based planning. Verify time-sensitive details with the named provider before booking.
Red Rocks Amphitheatre is a destination venue where transportation and weather deserve as much planning as the ticket. The City of Denver’s official Red Rocks guidance places the amphitheatre at approximately 6,450 feet elevation and advises visitors to hydrate, take their time on stairs, and prepare for changing weather.
What to bring — and what not to bring
Red Rocks says personal items must fit beneath the venue’s 18 × 12-inch seat footprint. Current policy allows certain single-pocket or clear bags up to 13 × 15 × 8 inches and smaller purses/fanny packs up to 6 × 9 inches, while multi-pocket bags and other prohibited items are restricted. Because the policy is more detailed than a simple size rule, read the official permitted/prohibited page before packing.
Weather can change quickly. Red Rocks recommends layers and weather-appropriate preparation. Do not rely on a general Denver forecast alone; check the venue/event guidance close to showtime.
Accessibility
Red Rocks publishes accessible-seating and parking information. Current guidance identifies wheelchair seating in Rows 1 and 70 and describes other limited-mobility/hearing-access seating. Accessible parking is available in designated lots, and an accessible shuttle operates from the Upper South lot during event operations. Requests for ASL interpretation or assistive devices should be made in advance; the venue currently asks for at least seven days.
Parking, drop-off and rideshare
Red Rocks’ official transportation page is essential reading because the end-of-show pattern is specific. Current guidance says private vehicles, taxis, Uber, and Lyft use the Jurassic Lot at Entrance 2 for end-of-event pickup. The venue also describes drop-off areas and limited post-show in-park shuttles.
For this initial release, no direct fixed-route public-transit service to the amphitheatre was verified from the official sources reviewed. Plan on a car, rideshare, or a separately booked authorized/private shuttle unless current venue guidance says otherwise.
Dining and daytime planning
Red Rocks has venue concessions and the Ship Rock Grille; event-day and concert-evening availability can differ. If you visit the park earlier in the day, check the official calendar because amphitheatre public access can close in advance of an event. Do not build a daytime sightseeing plan around an assumed closing time.
After the concert
Before entering, save the venue’s pickup instructions and your hotel address. If you are using rideshare, expect to follow the Jurassic Lot process rather than requesting pickup at an arbitrary entrance. If driving, designate the driver and review the parking exit plan before the show.
