Dahyun, you’re known for your bright and cheerful personality. How do you maintain such a positive energy, especially during busy schedules?
Dahyun: “I think it’s about finding joy in the little things. Even when we’re super busy, I try to laugh with my members, share stories, and keep our spirits up. It’s also about self-care – I make sure to get enough sleep and eat well. That really helps me stay positive!”
As a member of TWICE, what’s one memory from your trainee days that still motivates you today?
Dahyun: “I remember when I was practicing a dance routine, and I just couldn’t get it right. But one of the trainers told me, ‘Keep going, you’ll get there.’ That encouragement and the eventual success when I nailed it the next day still push me to keep trying, no matter how tough it gets.”
You’ve been called the “Mood Maker” of TWICE. How do you come up with your hilarious and iconic moments on stage and during variety shows?
Dahyun: “A lot of it is spontaneous! I love to make people laugh, so I just go with the flow and react to what’s happening around me. Sometimes, I think of funny scenarios or mimic things I’ve seen, but mostly, it’s about being in the moment and enjoying it.”
What’s your favorite TWICE song to perform, and why does it hold a special place in your heart?
Dahyun: “I really love performing ‘Feel Special.’ It’s because the song carries a message of self-love and appreciation which resonates with me. Plus, the energy from fans when we perform it is just magical.”
You’ve mentioned your faith is important to you. How does it influence your life as an idol and your interactions with fans?
Dahyun: “My faith gives me a sense of peace and purpose, which helps me stay grounded. It influences how I connect with ONCEs because I always try to be sincere and kind, reflecting the values I believe in.”
If you could collaborate with any American artist, who would it be and why?
Dahyun: “I’d love to work with Billie Eilish. Her music is so unique and powerful, and I think it would be amazing to blend our styles to create something special.”
You’ve been involved in writing lyrics for TWICE songs. What inspires you when you’re creating music?
Dahyun: “I’m inspired by our fans’ stories, my personal experiences, and the emotions we share as a group. Writing lyrics is like sharing a piece of my heart with ONCEs.”
What’s one thing about Korean culture you wish more international fans knew about?
“I wish more people knew about the warmth of Korean hospitality. We take pride in making others feel welcome and comfortable. It’s something I try to embody when meeting fans from all over the world.”
You’re known for your love of Michael Kors. What’s your favorite fashion item you own, and how would you describe your personal style?
Dahyun: “I have this Michael Kors bag that I adore. My style? I’d say it’s chic but comfortable. I like looking good but feeling free to move and have fun.”
If you could star in a K-drama or movie, what genre would you choose, and what kind of character would you want to play?
Dahyun: “I’d love to do a comedy or maybe something with a bit of action. Playing a character who’s a bit clumsy but has a heart of gold would be fun.”
What’s your favorite way to relax and unwind after a long day of rehearsals or performances?
Dahyun: “I love watching movies or writing in my journal. It’s so relaxing to just sit back with some snacks and enjoy a good story or reflect on the day.”
You’ve been part of TWICE for many years now. How do you think you’ve grown as an artist and as a person since debut?
Dahyun: “I’ve definitely grown more confident and expressive. As a person, I’ve learned patience, how to handle stress better, and the importance of teamwork.”
What’s your favorite memory with ONCE (TWICE’s fandom) during a concert or fan meeting?
Dahyun: “There was this moment during a concert where we all sang ‘TT’ together. The energy was just overwhelming, and it felt like we were all one big family.”
If you could travel anywhere in the U.S., where would you go and what would you want to do there?
Dahyun: “I’d love to go to New York City to see the skyline and experience the culture. Maybe catch a Broadway show or just enjoy the city’s vibe.”
You’re known for your love of food. What’s one dish you think every American fan should try when visiting Korea?
Dahyun: “You have to try Korean fried chicken! It’s crispy, flavorful, and pairs perfectly with some beer or soju.”
What’s a skill or hobby you’ve always wanted to learn but haven’t had the chance to yet?
Dahyun: “I really want to learn how to play the guitar. I think it would be cool to write and perform my own music.”
You’ve been part of many iconic TWICE moments. Is there a specific performance or stage that stands out as your favorite?
Our ‘TT’ performances will always be special. The iconic hand gesture became a global trend, and it was amazing to see how much joy it brought to people. It’s a memory I’ll cherish forever.”
How do you handle the pressure of being in the spotlight and maintaining a public image?
Dahyun: “I focus on being genuine. I know I’m not perfect, so I try to be honest, apologize when needed, and always strive to be better.”
If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be?
Dahyun: “Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Each one is a lesson that helps you grow. Enjoy the journey, not just the destination.”
